Fits perfectly! There is a ton of metal left on the original outrigger which is of course behind the one I just made. The steel is thin enough that it won't inhibit the step mechanism. I didn't weld this one on today because I wanted to OSPHO the old outrigger one more time. Perhaps tomorrow if I get a chance.
While I had a little time, I worked again on getting the shock mounting bolts off of axle #1. One side came off relatively easy... the other side sheared off. I quickly checked on Airforums and it turns out that a drill through stud can be put in place. That is easier than welding one on. For the smaller stuff, my welding skills are OK. I would be nervous trusting a shock to my welding abilities.
The frame work continues! Had a few hours today and some beautiful weather, so I made the step outrigger. It cut pretty easily with a scroll saw and metal blade, and I did the final shaping with my various metal cut off and grinding tools. The circles are where I will drill out for the puddle weld.
Below is one of two outriggers that I got welded on today. Some days are very productive, others not. I tend to stress a bit over how long everything takes. But, it is what it is. Some things you can't rush. When doing this type of work, safety is first. It is TOO easy to get severely injured when working under the trailer.
